How to use Metal Rates for your Jewellery business

Learn how to use metal rates to sell jewellery based on the live bullion rate

Hi! We at QuickSell empathise with the pain of Jewellers across India, about not being able to sell jewellery online at daily bullion rates.

Hence we have come up with a feature - Metal Rates, where you can define the BULLION RATE once daily and accordingly the price of all jewellery products across all catalogues gets updated. 😍

With Metal Rates you can just update the price once in the morning and be at peace for the rest of the day!

Currently, we support the price for 24kt, 22kt, 18kt, 14kt, and 12kt jewellery. And if you update the price for just 24kt the price for all others is automatically adjusted based on the purity.

​Metal Rate feature only works when you have selected the default product type as -Jewellery in the Product Type option in Store settings.

How to change the product type to Jewellery

Where to find the Metal Rate settings in QuickSell mobile

  1. Click on Store at the bottom navigation bar

  2. Choose Metal Rates from the available menu options


How to fill the Metal Rate for the day

Currently, we support the price for 24kt, 22kt, 18kt, 14kt, and 12kt jewellery.

​And if you update the price for just 24kt the price for all others is automatically adjusted based on the purity.

  1. Click on Metal Rates

  2. Fill the Gold Rate for 24kt

How to edit the product when product type is set as Jewellery

Now when we have set the product type as Jewellery and have filled the Gold Rates, it is time for us now to see how we can add new products when the product type is set as Jewellery or edit existing products when the product type is set as Jewellery.


Here we will discuss the entire product page and understand each aspect of it in detail.

The items in bold are the ones which are specific to the product type being Jewellery.

  1. Title

  2. SKU

  3. Minimum order quantity

  4. Description

  5. Custom fields

  6. Sub categories

  7. Videos/Pictures


  1. Title:
    ​
    Here you can describe the title of your product.
    ​
    ​

  2. SKU:
    ​
    Here you can specify the unique SKU of the product that you have designated.
    ​
    ​

  3. Metal:


    Since we have chosen the product type as Jewellery. It is showing up as GOLD.

    Tomorrow when the Silver Rate option is also added then you'd have the option to toggle between Gold and Silver.

  4. Karat:


    Here is a drop-down from where you can choose under which gold category/purity the product comes in. In the example above the bangle is 22 Karat, hence we have chosen that.

  5. Metal rate:


    The rate here, 22kt in this example, comes from the Metal Rate that you have saved here.
    ​
    If you click on Change, you are redirected to the Metal Rates screen where you can again describe the Metal Rates.
    ​

  6. Gross weight:


    Here you can fill in the gross weight of the Jewellery.
    ​
    ​

  7. Net weight:

    Here you can fill in the net weight. Net weight is the actual weight of gold in the jewellery piece and it is on the same product price is calculated based on the Metal Rate

  8. Making Charges:

    Here you can describe the making charges on that particular piece of jewellery. Also from the drop-down, you can choose between the percentage amount or the flat amount.
    ​
    In this example - I have assigned 18% making charges on this particular piece of jewellery.
    ​

  9. Add charge:

    With this button, you can add any additional charges in the flat amount that you might want to levy before selling the jewellery piece.
    ​
    For example, here I have added Rs500 for boxing charges, that I want my customer to bear.
    ​

  10. Product price and View calculation:

    Here you get to see the Product price, based on the gold rate and calculations above.
    ​
    And in case you want to look at the calculation breakup, you can click on View calculations. Here is what the break-up would look like in our example.

  11. Minimum order quantity:
    ​
    Here you can give describe the minimum order quantity, only after which the customer would be able to place the order.
    ​

  12. Description:
    ​
    Here you can give a description of your product. So that the customers can better understand it.

  13. Custom fields:
    ​
    Here you can describe custom fields for the product.

  14. Sub categories:

    Here you can provide sub-categories/tags for your products.

  15. Videos/Pictures:
    ​
    Here you can add pictures and videos to your products to engage customers.

Similarly in the same manner you can describe other jewellery products of yours. And based on the saved Metal Rate the price of all jewellery pieces gets calculated.


Customer View

As we can see in Customer's View, the total price of the product is shown with the breakdown available of Gross wt., Net wt., Metal Charges and Making Charges.
