We at QuickSell in our very early days understood that the necessity of individual businesses to have certain parameters regarding their product information exist which might be different from other businesses in similar category or even similar competing businesses in the same category. Hence we have created custom fields which our business owners can create as per their database requirement and even have the flexibility to use this data fields for either displaying as product information in the catalogues or for internal team usage to filter out data. For eg: A gold jeweller would require to display carat while a diamond jeweller would require to display diamond weight additionally. While a footwear manufacturer would have to display information like upper material, sole material, stitching quality, etc information.

Now, these are product information crucial for a seller to convey to their buyers which QuickSell allows you to individually add each parameter as public fields.

But there would also be information which is required for the internal/sales team, not necessary to display to the customer like supplier name, product purchased date, storage unit number. These kindof parameter are called private custom field and need not be shown to customer while it is important for the sales or order processing team.

How to create custom fields from the mobile app ?

  • On the All-catalogs screen, go the the Store section

  • Scroll down to Custom Fields section in the Content section

  • On the Custom fields screen, tap on the Create field button at the bottom-right corner of the screen

  • A dialog box will pop-up where you can specify the Field name, Field type and Field Visibility.

  • After specifying the field details, tap on the Add field button

  • This field is created for all the catalogs.



HOW TO CREATE CUSTOM FIELDS FROM THE WEB VERSION

  • Go to the Account Settings from the Menu on the left side of the screen

  • Click on Content and Layout and then select Custom Fields

  • On the Custom fields screen, click on the Add Field button

  • A dialog box will pop-up where you can specify the Field name, Field type and Field Visibility.

  • After specifying the field details, tap on the Add field button



TYPES OF CUSTOM FIELDS

While creating a custom field, you need to specify 3 things -

  • Field name - The name of the field you want to add. For example, if you want to specify which brand does the product belong to, the Field name should be Brand.

  • Field Type - There are 3 types of fields you can add for your products
    - String: the values can be alphabets, numbers, special characters or a combination of the three


    - Number: The value can be only numbers

    - Boolean: The value has to be either True or False

Field Visibility - You can control whether the field will be visible to your customers or not.





How to delete custom field ?


FROM THE MOBILE APP -

  • On the All-catalogs screen, go the the Store section

  • Scroll down to Custom Fields section in the Content section

  • On the Custom fields screen, tap on the Delete button at the right corner of the field you want to delete.

  • The field gets deleted from all the catalogs.



FROM THE WEB VERSION -

  • Go to the Account Settings from the Menu on the left side of the screen

  • Click on Content and Layout and then select Custom Fields

  • On the Custom fields screen, click on the Delete button at the right corner of the field you want to delete.

  • The field gets deleted from all the catalogs.
